Frank Lampard: Ex-Chelsea Star Confirms New York City Exit


Ex-Chelsea star, Frank Lampard will be leaving the New York City Fc once his contract expires at the end of the year
just as the team announced on Monday.

The 38- year -old former Chelsea midfielder who was signed by the North American League expansion squad in 2014 and was able to score 15 goals in 31 appearances.

Ex - Chelsea star who confirmed his exit on his instagram page on Monday, has however netted the team's first ever hat trick against the Colarado Rapids and helped NYCFC reach the paly offs for the first time.

“As my time at NYCFC comes to an end, I would like to thank so many people for the kindness and support that they have shown me over the last two years,” he wrote.
“My team-mates have been a pleasure to play alongside. The amazing fans have given me incredible support and backing.
“I have very much enjoyed my time and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to play for such a great club and in such an incredible city.”

NYFC coach, Patrick Vieira also added; “Everybody talks about Frank’s goalscoring record from midfield but, I can tell you after a year of working with him, he brings so much more to a team than just goals.


“What Frank has brought to the locker-room is something just as important – his experience, his elite mentality and his mentorship for the younger members of our squad have helped us greatly this year.
“It is clear that Frank has embraced playing in this league and for this club. I am grateful for his service in my first year here and I wish him the very best in whatever he chooses to do next.”

Frank Lampard who began his career in 1995 at West Ham United , his father's former club and in 2001 he moved to Chelsea where he played for 13 seasons and became the all time goal scoring leader with 211. Lampard's premier league debut with Chelsea came on 19th of August 2001 in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle united, while his first red card came in a match against Tottenham Hotspur on 16 September 2001.
